I'M A WOMAN
I arise before dawn, like the warriors of old
Give thanks to the Almighty for His mercies untold
I hit the road shrouded in the early dawn darkness
Walking bravely besides other broad chested men
But alas! I'm a woman.
I'm a Woman
I fight the world with other men
Contend with the big, the brawny, the cunning of them
I conquer and take my spoils at the end of the day
For some beef and mealier meal, I call it a day
Caring for the young, because I'm a woman
I return home long after the sun has rested
Battered and bruised, emotionally, physically at times mentally
With no one to comfort me, no one to hold
Broken, beaten down only to rise once again
Without the strength of a man, because I'm a woman.
I battle through each day as a man
Dressed up and pleasant as a lady
Charming and funny as a friend to one and all
Warm hearted, loving, forgiving...I'm a mum
I return home drained, exhausted, spent
Excited, improved, knowledgeable
To find no one to share my trials and triumphs
I'm a woman, sad and weary.
